Did you know…? Posted or Updated on 15 Apr 2024

Following your feedback we are participating in a new approach to improve access for patients to GP appointments.

The aim is to direct patients to the most appropriate healthcare professional, which may be a GP, Nurse, Physio, Physician Associate, or your local pharmacy to see a pharmacist.

If your symptoms can be resolved by a booked consultation with a pharmacist instead of a Clinician at the surgery, you will be given a same-day referral to a pharmacy of your choice.

We think this is a good thing. Once you see how great your local pharmacist is – they are highly trained and skilled clinicians experienced in treating minor illnesses – we don’t think you’ll look back.

This will also help us to free up GP appointments for people with more complex health needs and ensure that everyone gets treated at the right time, by the right healthcare professional.

We are keen to hear what you think and will be listening to your comments and feedback about your experience of using this service.

Following your feedback (some examples of which are quoted below):

"the nurse I saw was excellent and much better than seeing a GP as I felt she had more knowledge of breathing issues"  "Practitioner, Tabby, very helpful and knowledgeable." "The nurse practitioner made me feel at ease she was amazing and has a lovely nature". "Easy to book a physio appointment; appointment ran on time; Ben is excellent--very professional, friendly  helpful".

We are pleased to see so many of you booking appointments with either a Nurse, Physio, Physician Associate, or a pharmacist.
